RIDE DESCRIPTION
Team OC's most popular ride never disappoints! Take a 60, 74 or 91-mile ride down the coast from the Irvine Train Station to Solana Beach in San Diego County.
The 60-mile ride is a beautiful predominantly flat ride with some rolling hills down the coast through San Clemente, Camp Pendleton and Oceanside. The 74-mile route adds some hill climbing early through Rancho Santa Margarita and on through San Juan Capistrano before it joins the 60-mile route at the coast.
But we highly recommend our new 91.5-mile route which takes riders through the beautiful open land of Santiago Canyon and up through Live Oak Canyon with its canopy of trees. This route adds quite a bit more climbing and some awesome scenery.
There will be pit stops about every 15-25 miles, but you are responsible for your own food and nutrition along the way. Team OC will provide snacks or water at Pit Stop 3 in Oceanside, the other Pit Stops are local coffee shops. Make sure you bring enough water to last 25 miles because there are stretches of the route where water is not readily available.
The ride ends at a tasty pizza place where you can down some delicious pies, drink some beer or soda and tell your favorite cycling stories. You've earned it!
Put your bike on the U-Haul truck and walk across the street to catch the 3:34 PM train back to Irvine which arrives at 4:37 pm.
You don't want to miss this one!
